Hoping to capture its share of the lucrative smartphone market, LG Electronics - the world's third-largest mobile phone maker - is moving to adopt high-performance hardware by the end of this year.
LG announced September 7 that it plans to introduce the first Android smartphones to be powered by a dual-core processor, the NIVIDIA Tegra mobile processor, The Tegra 2 will be part of its new Optimus Series.

While Qualcomm is entering into fierce competition with its mobile platform, "Brew Mobile Platform (BMP), for feature phones as well as smartphones," Korea's mobile phone makers, Samsung, LG, and Pantech, plan to be the first to introduce BMP phones in the global market.
In February, at the MWC in Barcelona, HTC and ZTE unveiled the first BMP-based smartphones, HTC Smart and ZTE Bingo, respectively.
