Only 13.7 percent of office workers have any experience in using their mobile phone, including smartphones, for work purposes such as sending or receiving email, creation or viewing of documents, or accessing enterprise applications including ERP and CRM, according to a survey conducted by the Korea Internet & Security Agency to 3,000 respondents from September 1 to 30 thru face-to-face interviews.

Amid the rapid adoption of smartphones, mobile-office products are booming in Korean companies and the public sector as it allows employees to proceed with their tasks anywhere and anytime. With its mobile office solution, SK Telecom, the largest mobile carrier in Korea, said it has secured 500 clients, including 230 new customers in the first half of this year.

A major WiBro reference site for KT, Hyundai Heavy Industries, is turning to a 3G network-based mobile office environment.
Last year, KT announced it had implemented a WiBro-based mobile environment for Hyundai Heavy Industries, and it was the first time for a shipyard to adopt WiBro. With the WiBro service, Hyundai workers on the 59.4-million square-meter site were able to exchange voice, video and data with mobile devices.
