Since KT introduced last month the 4.3-inch, LCD-equipped Desire HD smartphone from HTC, larger displays of 4 inches or more are a new trend in the local smartphone market.
KT will introduce this month three additional 4-inch-plus LCD-equipped smartphones: the Streak and Venue by Dell and the Vega Xpress by Pantech. The Streak in particular boasts a 5-inch LCD.

Two Korean handset giants, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, are showing a mixture of joy and sorrow in their third quarter handset business results.
In the telecom business, Samsung posted an operating profit of 1.13 trillion won on revenue of 11.12 trillion won while LG recorded the worst-ever quarterly operating loss with 330 billion won on revenue of 3.22 trillion won.

Microsoft's latest smartphone operating system, Windows 7, was unveiled on phones by Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and HTC.
Samsung will launch its Omnia 7 in France and LG plans to release the Optimus 7 in Europe and Asia this month. Samsung's 4-inch Omnia 7 will be unveiled in coming months in Europe, Singapore, Australia and the United States. AT&T will release the phone as the Samsung Focus, according to the company.
