While mobile operators are eyeing entrance into other industries to escape from a standstill in its telecom business, KT, the second-largest mobile carrier in the local market, finally decided to acquire BC Card, which has about a 40 percent of the credit card market by revenue.
BC Card has about 42 million credit card customers and a massive sales network consisting of around 2.9 million shops while KT has 16 million mobile subscribers, 19.3 million fixed-line subscribers, 7.4 million broadband users and 2 million IPTV subscribers.
