Last June 1st, KT 2009, Korea's leading wired communication company, absorbed its wireless arm KTF, the second-largest mobile carrier, with an aim to converge the wired and wireless communication markets.
The merger was new CEO Lee Seok-chae's first big decision since his inauguration on January 14, 2009, filling a position that had remained empty when former CEO Nam Joong-soo resigned after being arrested on bribery charges. Cho Young-chou, former CEO of KTF also disgracefully stepped down from a bribery scandal.
